Atticus Finch Character Change
Atticus would let his children run outside and be wild so long as they behaved themselves. When Atticus would visit his sister (Aunt Alexandra), she would often criticize how she believes that he did not raise his children right and he allowed himself to be pushed around by his older sister. Later Aunt Alexandra comes to live with them because she feels that the children need a feminine influence in the house and Atticus allows this. Alexandra would tell the children that they could or could not do things as if she were their mother. As time goes by Atticus starts to stand up for himself and disagrees with Alexandra more often. The power that Alexandra had over Atticus starts to slowly decline. The theme that relates to this event is moral courage because Atticus starts standing up for himself and how he believes that he is raising his children right.
Seating in the Courtroom
The black people were required to sit in a balcony separated from the white people, who where on the ground floor. The black people in the balcony often would have trouble hearing and seeing from up in the balcony. While the white people have good seats on the ground floor and have no trouble hearing or seeing. The theme that relates to this is racial prejudice because the white people get the good seats while the black people have to be crammed into the balcony where it is hard to see and hear.
