Boo Radley Character Change
Boo had always been watching Jem, Scout, and Dill through his window. The only type of interaction he had with the kids was placing small trinkets in the tree in his front yard. When he saw Jem and Scout being attacked by Bob Ewell, he new he had to do something. Boo ends up saving Scout and Jem from Ewell, the book suggests that he killed him but it never said for certain. Before, Boo would stay locked up in his house and would only come out if he knew no one would see him. Even though after Boo saved the kids, Scout never say him again. The theme that relates to this event is moral courage because Boo had never really wanted to be seen outside of his house, he never wanted to interact with others, and he new he could be punished if he did come out.
Which Characters are "Mockingbirds"?
Boo is a mockingbird because he was given a overly harsh punishment for one mistake. He made the mistake of hanging around a bad group of people and they got him locked in his house because of what they did. Because of this, Boo was thought to be a scary man and a monster in the views of the children. The theme that relates to this is social prejudice because Boo's father had a high position in the social class so the judge took his word and Boo was locked up in his house.
